Instead of watching the Republican debate tonight among the “also rans”, I’m jotting down this quick note about an editorial in the Financial Times which I received early this morning. The Title is: THE HUNT FOR HUNTER BIDEN…he should be investigated but the allegations are dwarfed by the charges against Donald Trump.
Here is the strategy from what might loosely be termed the Liberal Establishment: the Biden affair is all about a troubled lone individual named Hunter Biden who just happens to be the son of Joe Biden, ex-VP and current Prez of the U.S. There is no link between Papa Joe—whom Saint Obama put in charge of Ukraine—and Hunter’s business activities there. None. Period. If you think there is, you are a conspiracy nut.
That’s the party line, and they are determined to stick with it come hell or high water. Has the FT done any investigating to determine if there is, in fact, no link? Probably not. They don’t care one way or the other. If there were a link, and the news leaked out, it might redound to the benefit of that monster, that ogre, Donald Trump. So the FT mandarins certainly do not want to go there, or anywhere near there.
Concurrently, the reigning Democrat establishment has deliberately tied up Trump in both federal and state courts with trumped-up charges like leading an insurrection against the USG itself, holding onto classified files, heading an organized crime conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, and not reporting a pay-off to a porn star to federal election officials in the same disputed election.
All of this is a big stretch, of course, a stretch which the Democrats are making because they can get away with it and because they have a dud for a candidate, to wit, Papa Joe. And if not him, then presumably his airhead VP, Cackling Kamala Harris, even worse than a dud. The Dems have no bench. All they have is an all-purpose punching bag named Donald Trump.
I don’t have a dog in this race, but I am happy to point out the insufferable hypocrisy of the holier-than-thou liberal and Democrat establishments in what is now a full-blown three-ring circus. If the FT had done some legwork in the Hunter affair, they might have found out that Papa Joe was deeply involved with Hunter in grifting the Ukraine racket for all it was worth when Joe was in charge of Ukraine.
Here’s the latest from law professor Jonathan Turley: Joe Biden’s Ukraine Defense Falls Apart. The senior Biden brazenly leveraged his official position, his elected office, to derail an investigation into his son’s Ukrainian cash cow. Then Joe bragged about it afterward to the high-and-mighty at the Council on Foreign Relations, claiming he was doing a good deed.
That’s corruption in my book, pure and simple. Trump may be a blowhard, a braggart, a wild man, a womanizer, and a climate denier, among other things, but the avalanche of legal charges against him, when you actually examine them one by one, do not add up. But they will probably hold up in the rock-solid Democrat venues in which they are taking place. The fix is in. The desperate Democrats will get away with it. And the circus will continue.
